Arcturus Ventures Inc. (TSX-V:AZN, “Arcturus”) is pleased to announce that the Company has signed a drilling contract with Kluane Drilling Ltd for the planned drilling programs at the 1st Base and RB properties in the Finlayson Lake area of Yukon Territory, Canada. This program will commence in mid June, 2011, and will include simultaneous reconnaissance exploration work on the Mer property in the same area. Following work on the Finlayson Lake area properties Arcturus will mobilize a crew to the Keele property for exploration there.
The RB property has two sulphide bearing showings that alongside soil geochemistry outline an approximately 2.5 sq km horizon prospective for copper and gold mineralization. The 2011 drill program will test the property at various locations including where Arcturus believes a growth fault may potentially be thickening the horizon and concentrating the mineralization. Additional work will be done to delineate a gold-in-soil anomaly with a peak of 224 ppb discovered during the 2010 program.
The 1st Base property is underlain by similar geology to the nearby Kudz Ze Kayah deposit and is prospective for similar VMS mineralization. The drilling program will test 4 areas showing soil geochemistry and geophysical anomalies including areas where the soil geochemical anomalies have peaks of 1430 ppm Cu, 5700 ppm Zn and 2040 ppm Pb.
The Mer property, staked last year by the Company, is prospective for gold mineralization similar to the discoveries in the Dawson Range Gold Belt including recent discoveries on Kinross’ White Gold property and Kaminak’s Coffee property. Stream sediment samples taken from the drainages on Mer show anomalous gold and arsenic values with 5 such samples having gold values in the 95th percentile or higher. Reconnaissance geochemistry, airborne geophysics and an extensive mapping and prospecting program will be done on the property while the 1st Base and RB drill programs are in progress with the aim to identify target areas for more detailed exploration later in summer 2011.
The Keele property, which shows potential for Carlin style gold mineralization similar to ATAC’s Rau Gold Project, will undergo reconnaissance sampling and prospecting following the work on 1st Base, RB and Mer. Results from the initial phase will dictate further work in late summer.
